Here’s a list of common questions about web services and website projects I get from clients and prospects. If you’re wondering about something not covered here, feel free to contact me – I’m happy to help!
How long does it take to build a website?
This can vary, based on the size and complexity of the project. To give you an idea, a simple “brochure” site with fewer than 10 pages will be about 2-3 weeks. A larger site, an ecommerce site, or a site with more complex design elements can take 6 – 12 weeks.
How much does a website project typically cost?
Again, this can vary greatly, but a brochure website project will typically start at about $3500. All development projects include licensed premium frameworks, plugins, security hardening and post-live web training.
What about website maintenance?
I strongly recommend keeping up with the technical maintenance, in order to keep your site current and secure. I offer website care plans via my Help Desk service. Learn more here.
Do you offer training on how to update my website?
Yes I do, and basic web-based training is included with development projects, or can be arranged with a consulting session package.
I’m not sure what I need. Can you provide guidance?
Absolutely! Clients researching an upcoming project can benefit greatly by scheduling a consulting session before committing to a project.
What are domain names?
Domain names are the way in which Internet destinations (websites) are located on the Internet. Instead of an IP address, you can type in an easy-to-remember word. Check out ProVirtual Domains for great prices on all the latest extensions. Note that domain name registrations are separate from your website and your website hosting.
What hosting providers do you recommend?
Do you do web store/ecommerce sites?
Yes, I build ecommerce stores with WooCommerce, Stripe and PayPal.
I need email set up for my business. Can you help?
Yes, I am experienced with setting up G Suite (recommended), Rackspace Mail, Office 365 and other premium hosted email services.
Can you help with email marketing?
Can you help get my website to the top of Google?
What you’re describing is search engine optimization (SEO). I offer the basics of good SEO, but a focused SEO or SEM campaign should be done by a specialist.
Do you offer social media services?
I can integrate your website with your social media profiles. I do not offer ongoing social media campaigns. Given the ever-changing nature of social marketing, that work should be done by a specialist.
Can you write the content for my site?
I place the content on your site that you provide. I do not offer copywriting as a service.
