I know there’s been radio silence around here for a few weeks, but I’ve been hard at work putting the finishing touches on my new venture, Specialty.Domains. This new domain sales site is focused on the new gTLDs (domain extensions) being added to the market every week. As I posted here back in May, between early 2014 and late 2015, it’s estimated that as many as 1500 new domain extensions will become available. This is a huge boon to marketers and brands because these new domains allow you to communicate exactly what you do – just by sharing your web address.
This is the first major expansion of available TLDs since 2001, and if you’ve been shopping around for a new gTLD name – you probably wound up at least a little bit confused. Because the new domains are being introduced on a weekly basis, the variety of source registries, plus the multi-phase rollout model have created an unprecedented variety of pricing and options that are new to the domain shopper. I wrote a brief post last month about the new domain name shopping lingo you need to know.
Specialty.Domains is intended to make new gTLD shopping a bit easier. You can create a free, no-obligation watchlist that will email you when your chosen domain extension is available in any phase. In addition, you can participate in the early-access phases of new domain rollouts: Sunrise (for trademark holders), Landrush (early access/premium pricing) and Pre-Registration (risk-free!).
For an overview, here’s my domain name services page, featuring current specials and a domain rollout calendar. Or, visit Specialty.Domains today and check out the possibilities!
